12 years.

We have 12 years.

“The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C”

The difference between keeping global warming to a maximum of 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to 2 degrees Celsius is astronomical. At a rise of 2 degrees Celsius, there is no chance for any major coral reefs to survive, rising sea levels would threaten major coastal towns, the marine ecosystems would be altered in a negative way for fisherman, the increase in droughts would affect millions of insects whose existence is crucial for pollination of certain crops, and the number of natural disasters would be much greater than it already is.

There is a terrible stigma around global warming that the everyday person believes their little actions towards being more eco-friendly will make a difference. There is definitely a lot of pressure on big industrial corporations who put out millions of tons of pollutants every year, but if everyone can agree to take small steps into being more eco-friendly than together, with millions of people helping, we can make a difference.

From carpooling to work, reducing time spent in the shower, eliminating single-use utensils, turning lights off when not needed, and hand washing dishes instead of using a dishwasher, all these little things can eventually make a huge difference.

Here is a link to an article about simple steps you can take to become more eco-friendly:

We only have this one planet.

There is no backup we can rely on if we do not act appropriately.
